Today we’d like to introduce you to cee sando.
Thanks for sharing your story with us cee. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
theartofwor.com is a queer style blog focusing on the amazing uniqueness and beauty of those with incredible style. This incredible city is full of culture, style and individuality, I started theartofwor.com to document all of the amazingness that is often overlooked.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I started the blog about 7 years ago and was weary of labeling theartofwor.com as a “queer” style blog because I thought it might alienate those who did not identify as queer or who were not comfortable with the term. The truth is the majority of street-style looks that eventually end up on the runway and gracing fast fashion boutiques (3-5 years later) originate within the queer community. With the blog, I am celebrating the incredible creativity and resourcefulness of my vibrant community.
I’ve now come to recognize that if the idea of a “queer style blog” makes someone uneasy then they just are not the right audience for what we are doing!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about theartofwor.com – what should we know?
I am a wardrobe stylist and fashion expert specializing in queer/androgynous looks. I have dressed actors for the Golden Globes, Oscars and Emmys and have worked with brands like Beats by Dre, Hyundai, LG, JustFab, ShoeDazzle, and Sanctuary Clothing. I must admit that my most inspiring and fulfilling work comes from styling “regular” people whether it be transitioning or updating wardrobes.
The images published on theartofwor.com are a mix of my own work, other stylists and street style.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Believing in myself has always worked best for me despite whatever challenges might arise. Difficulties, hiccups, and missteps are inevitable but I have never allowed them to distract me from my goals.
